With complete system tests now into the hundreds, StormShield^® reputation is firmly secured off the back of such extensive testing coupled by the fact holds the title for ‘no field failures’ having been proved through the most fieriest storms in the Pacific in the last 15 years.

Glasshape^® well recognize that cyclonic protection must be approached as a system solution, not just glass and not just a generic frame. We’ve partnered with all the major aluminium window fabrication suppliers and have successfully tested and certified full window systems where we focus on all the important details such as;

Extrusion gauge and type
Edge engagement
Sealant types and placement
Fixing types, methods, gauges and distances
Wind loading vs glass thickness to comply with AS/NZS 1170 and AS1288
Maximum window size deemed to comply

From years of testing we’ve proven that you cannot test cyclone impact resistant glass in a generic test frame, then glaze the ‘tested’ glass into another type of frame and call it a ‘certified system’. Each and every framing system is unique and behaves in a unique way when under wind load and impact from flying debris. A truly certified system must be fully tested as a system and not swapped out for something different in the field. In order to protect lives, properties and investments, fully tested and certified window systems need to be installed in all new and refurbished dwellings and buildings.

The following aluminium window suppliers have fully tested and certified window systems with StormShield^® for use in Regions C and D in Australia and the Pacific Islands, tested and evaluated by independent NATA certified facilities showing a successful resistance without perforation for both large and small debris impact demonstrating compliance to the AS/NZS 1170.2 2011 code and being fit for purpose.

What’s important in a test report?

As industry leaders in cyclonic testing and certification, we often see test reports issued into the industry that lack very important details resulting in projects being glass with products not fit for purpose and/or glazed well outside the parameters of how it was tested.
